Easter at UU Miami, Flight, Joy, and Becoming Together

By: Rev. Dr. Harold Marrero

Join us this Sunday, April 5, for a joyful Easter celebration at UU Miami as we gather for a service called “Flight: Becoming Together.”

This year, we will explore Easter in a way that is both deeply spiritual and deeply human. We will trace the butterfly effect of resurrection across history, beginning with Jesus and the community transformed by his life and love, then moving through the early church, the Renaissance, emancipation, the Social Gospel, the Civil Rights Movement, and finally into our own present moment. Along the way, we will ask a living question: what does resurrection look like now?

Resurrection is not just about one moment long ago. It is about what happens when love refuses to die. It is about courage taking root in ordinary people. It is about communities becoming brave enough to care for one another, tell the truth, widen the circle, and build a more just and beautiful world together.

This service will be full of music, story, reflection, and joy. It will also include our Easter Parade during the service, so come ready to celebrate. Wear your Easter best, bring out the bonnets, hats, bright colors, and springtime flair, and join in the fun. Whether your style is elegant, playful, bold, or delightfully over the top, this is the Sunday to let it shine.

This will be a family fun day for all, and we hope you will bring the whole crew. Invite your friends. Bring your kids. Bring your neighbors. Bring the people who need a little hope, a little beauty, or just a place to belong. There will be something here for every generation, from the youngest among us to the wisest.

After the service, we invite you and your family to join us for a special Easter Potluck Brunch filled with food and drinks as we celebrate the joy of a community rooted in love. If you would like to contribute a dish or drinks, please email us at sexton@uumiami.org.

Easter at UU Miami is not about pretending life is simple. It is about remembering that new life is still possible. A changed heart can change a relationship. A changed relationship can change a community. A changed community can change what the world believes is possible.

That is flight. That is becoming together. Come celebrate with us this Sunday. Come ready to sing, to reflect, to laugh, to parade, and to step into Easter with courage and joy.

We cannot wait to welcome you.
