Poetic Justice: Words to Inspire Worship Service (In-Person)
Of the six sources that inform the living tradition of UUism, the second draws upon the “words and deeds of prophetic people which challenge us to confront powers and structures of evil with justice, compassion, and the transforming power of love.” This Sunday we collectively appreciate and engage with words of wisdom that inspire us, as submitted by our very own UU Miami members.
by Carly Poloskey, Director of Religious Exploration
We will be delving into the power of words to inspire, engender empathy, and compel action. In my time here at UU Miami, I have frequently been graced with witty advice from our well-read community members. For this reason, I’m calling upon you to submit some quote(s)/poem/phrases that are meaningful to you. On this particular Sunday (7/31), we will have a “Take what you need, leave what you can” table where I will have quote cards prepared with words of wisdom that have been submitted in the weeks leading up to the service. Attendees will be encouraged to peruse the display, perhaps contributing some additional words of their own if inspiration strikes, and ultimately taking home a quote card (or two) that speaks to them. In a way, this will be like the flower communion–a communion of words! Email me at re@uumiami.org with words you would like to share.
I look forward to what you will bring to the table :)”
