RE Deering Estate Visit

Children, ages 4-11, are delving into their indigenous curriculum of “Natural Beings in a Natural World”—anchoring their knowledge in crafts, exploring the nature of the UUCM campus and off-campus field experiences. Upcoming events include:

Visiting Deering Estate on Sunday, October 10th

the Natural Beings class will meet at the Deering Estate.

Located at 16701 SW 72nd Avenue, Miami, FL 33157, the 1920s era Miami estate of Charles Deering, Chicago industrialist, early preservationist, environmentalist, art collector, philanthropist and first chairman of the International Harvester Company.

MUDDY SHOES? The children take their parents on a long hike at DEERING ESTATE to find an Indian Midden and burial site! We learn to imagine the busy road of the native people trading goods along Biscayne Bay. If we see a spotted manta ray, we’ll cheer!

Teens, though few and mighty, will continue to meet with me when present on UUCM campus—This Sunday, a small group will be preparing donations for a Bridge to Hope.
Childcare will continue to be offered during services for 0-4 year olds and can easily be arranged for during Adult Religious Exploration with notice, as well.
