The Practice of Story

Dear Little Black Boy

Rev. Derail Holcomb [he/him]

In a world filled with challenges and contradictions, what words of hope, strength, and truth can we offer to a generation that bears the weight of history and the promise of tomorrow? On this special Sunday, as we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and reflect on the power of resilience in uncertain times, this sermon is a letter of love, affirmation, and purpose for every little Black boy and for all who dare to dream of a just and compassionate world. Remember, the theme for January is story. Join us as we hold space for reflection, renewal, and a call to action for the days ahead.

Rev. Holcomb upbringing at a Pentecostal/Baptist church opened a broad range of legalistic beliefs that led his desire to seek scriptural understanding. In 2011, he attended Barry University in Miami, FL, and graduated with a BA in Public Administration. In May of 2019, he graduated with a Masters of Divinity and a Graduate Certificate in Urban Ministry. His accomplishments have played a large part in preparing him for the journey along the Unitarian Universalist path.
