A Generous Season Begins?

This time of year is often considered a time of generosity, when many of us start thinking about what presents we will purchase for what person in our lives. Is that what we want generosity to mean this season? Perhaps it could mean something else. “Generosity is a nice sentiment but remains only a sentiment without the knowledge that relationship brings. If we’re going to talk about things like the ‘platinum rule’ of doing unto others as they would have done unto them, we also have to do the work of getting to know them, really, and having genuine relationships and being open to feedback and accountability…” (A Pile of Apples, Rev.
