Often we think about the Judeo-Christian holidays this time of year, but in the Hindu tradition this time of year Diwali is celebrated. The term Diwali is derived from the Sanskrit words dīpa, “lamp, light, lantern, candle, that which glows, shines, illuminates or knowledge.” What insights and wisdom might be gain from exploring this festival of lights.
