Our world stands between two mirrors, one reflecting a naïve optimism that dismisses suffering, the other reflecting a cynical despair that denies the possibility of change. Together, they intensify the anxiety, distrust, and fear of our age. Yet in the ancient name of God, “I Am That I Will Be,” we glimpse another way: the God called possibility, A Love that is always becoming.
Rev. Dr. Marrero will draw from Navigating the Future: Traditioned Innovation for Wilder Seas by Andrew P. Hogue and L. Gregory Jones, as well as his own book Becoming: The Self, The Path, and The Truth, to invite us into a vision of traditioned innovation, a way of holding the wisdom of the past with love, while courageously shaping what must yet emerge. Together with the voices of the Hebrew prophets and gnostic mystics, we will explore how to embody our Authentic Selves and to form not just the community of what comes next, but the community of what is yet to be.
Childcare for infants & toddlers is available during our Sunday Service.
