This year’s programming will be guided by our new custom curriculum, The Spirit of Us: Building Character, Community, and UU Values. Rooted in Unitarian Universalist principles, The Spirit of Us curriculum focuses on personal growth, kindness & empathy, resilience, and the power of community. It invites children to reflect on who they are, how they relate to others, and how we can all contribute to a more just and compassionate world.
Each week’s lesson is shaped through open conversations with the children. We start by introducing an “Idea Board,” where kids can suggest topics they care about—such as identity, fairness, school challenges, family life, friendship, social justice, and more. These ideas form the foundation for discussion and learning, keeping the curriculum flexible, responsive, and relevant to the children’s real-life experiences. Our lessons will arise from those lived questions, woven with stories, reflections, and activities that connect their experiences to our Unitarian Universalist values. This then transforms into a vibrant curriculum, molded by the spirit of who the youth are and who they aspire to become.
